Activity 3

LET'S CLEAN UP EUROPE EVENT

Activity 3 consists of taking part in the clean-up event. In order to be successful,  follow the next instructions.

 

Distribute the students and the volunteers in Cleaning Groups. Each group has to collect a different type of waste and has to wear a "training bib", a coloured T-shirt or a bracelet that identifies its members. You must have, at least, 4 different groups in charge of the the following different types of waste:

  • Plastic and aluminium

  • Paper

  • Glass

  • Non-recyclable waste

Every member of the group will have one function. Every group should have a...

 

  • Journalists: Choose two members of the group in charge of writing down important information and facts after attending the event.

  • Coordinator: Choose a person in charge of managing the group, taking decisions and ensuring that everyone collaborates during the clean-up event.

  • Caretaker: choose a person in the group in charge of taking the needed material from the school to attend the event.

Take part in the cleaning-up event. Collect as many rubbish as you can so that the chosen location is as clean and unpolluted as possible. Make sure that the teacher or some participants take some photos before and after cleaning the area and take some of the rubbish collected.

Weigh the rubbish collected and make sure the journalists of each group note it in the worksheet attached below.
